Get a flight reservation for visa out of Uganda

Ugandans travel through most of East Africa without one. It's everywhere past that which wants a plan in writing before it agrees to anything.

Within the East African Community – Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan – a Ugandan can cross on a national ID and go months without touching a visa form. That freedom stops the moment the destination is the UK, the Schengen area, the United States, Canada, or the Gulf. Every one of those applications asks the same three things: where, when, and on which flight.

You're answering that while the plan is still theoretical. A Schengen appointment booked in Kampala is scheduled well before the file is actually reviewed. A UK application goes in online with a decision made somewhere else entirely. A US interview slot at the embassy in Kampala can sit weeks out. Every route wants the itinerary in place before it tells you anything about the outcome.

That timing is exactly why buying the real ticket early is the wrong instinct. A return fare to London or Toronto is a serious shilling figure, and the cheaper fares are always the least flexible ones – change the date and you're paying a fee, cancel it and you're losing most of the fare outright, for a decision that hasn't even been made yet.

None of that spending is what's actually being asked for. UK guidance tells applicants directly not to book travel before a decision is issued, and Schengen consulates are explicit that they want a travel plan, not a receipt for one. What gets checked is whether the plan is coherent – a flight that exists, dates that agree with the rest of the file, and specifics an officer can actually verify.

A file that offers nothing checkable is the one that comes back with more questions rather than fewer. Saying you'll book it once the visa is through tells an officer nothing they can confirm. A named airline, a flight number and a reference that resolves gives the file something real to weigh instead.

Who actually needs a flight itinerary for visa application

Ugandan travellers who need a trip on paper for anywhere outside the East African bloc, before anyone has agreed to let them go.

  • UK Standard Visitor visa
  • Schengen visa (tourism or business)
  • US B1/B2 visitor visa
  • Canada visitor visa or study permit
  • UAE and Qatar visit visas
  • Any embassy or airline asking for proof of onward or return travel

What a flight reservation for visa costs from Uganda

One flat fee per itinerary, plus a small amount for each traveller after the first, wherever in Uganda you're filing from. It's a fraction of an actual international fare out of Entebbe, and unlike that fare, none of it is lost if the visa doesn't come through.

Your dummy flight ticket, four steps, nothing arranged first

About a minute end to end, and nobody to call before you begin.

Look up a flight that's actually flying

Give it your route and dates out of Entebbe, or wherever the trip genuinely starts. What's returned is checked against live schedules, so it's a flight that's actually operating.

Add every traveller

Copy each name straight off the passport's data page, in the order it prints there. Everyone flying together sits on the one document.

Pay USh 55,500

USh 55,500 one-way, USh 70,500 round-trip, USh 92,500 multi-city, on a Ugandan Visa or Mastercard. The charge runs in US dollars, and your bank fixes the shilling figure.

Pick up the PDF

It lands the instant the payment clears. Order Lookup will retrieve it again later using your email and booking reference.

Paying for your provisional flight booking from Uganda

This is the part to read carefully – how most things get paid for day to day here is not how this gets paid for.

MTN and Airtel Money don't apply here

Mobile money covers a huge share of everyday spending in Uganda, and this checkout doesn't use it – no paybill code, no send-money number, nothing to dial. If someone tells you to send mobile money for a flight itinerary from us, it isn't us, and that money won't come back.

What actually works: a Visa or Mastercard

A debit or credit card from a Ugandan bank clears at checkout, provided it's enabled for international or online payment – most banks turn that on through the app or a quick call if it isn't already.

The shilling figure your statement shows

Roughly USh 55,500 one-way, USh 70,500 round-trip and USh 92,500 multi-city. Settlement happens in US dollars, so the shilling amount is whatever your bank applies on the day, usually with its own foreign transaction fee layered in.

Stripe takes the card details directly over an encrypted connection, and nothing sensitive passes through our side. Card is the only route in – no mobile money, no agent, no bank transfer.

What's actually in your flight reservation for visa

One document, sent within a minute of paying, set out the way a visa officer or application centre expects proof of travel to look.

A dummy flight ticket with a carrier genuinely scheduled to fly

Operating airline, flight number and aircraft for each sector, taken from live availability rather than filled in from a blank.

Every leg laid out plainly

Airports, dates and times for the full journey, with any connection through the Gulf or Europe shown as its own line instead of folded into the summary.

Names exactly as the passport prints them

Each traveller listed the way their data page shows it, alongside a booking reference and PNR.

A reference that checks out

Search it and a genuine booking comes back – that's the entire point of using a real reservation rather than an edited image.

Departure airports for your dummy flight ticket from Uganda

Entebbe International Airport (EBB), on the shore of Lake Victoria and roughly forty minutes from Kampala, is the departure point behind nearly every visa file built out of Uganda. Starting the trip from an airport outside Uganda entirely is no obstacle either – search that airport instead.

AirportCityIATA
Entebbe International AirportKampalaEBB
Entebbe (EBB)Amsterdam (AMS)

KLM's daily nonstop, and the most direct Schengen entry point on offer. Multi-city covers a trip that lands in one member state and leaves through another at no extra charge.

Entebbe (EBB)London (LHR)

Nothing flies this route nonstop – expect a change through Kigali, Brussels, Doha or a similar hub, and put that connection on the itinerary as its own leg rather than a single implied hop.

Entebbe (EBB)New York (JFK)

B1/B2 files after an interview at the US Embassy in Kampala. There's no nonstop from Entebbe to the US, so the routing will show a connection – set departure after the interview date regardless of which hub it runs through.

Entebbe (EBB)Toronto (YYZ)

Canadian visitor and study permit files. The Kampala visa application centre stopped accepting applications in June 2026, and decisions on Ugandan files are made through the High Commission in Dar es Salaam rather than locally – confirm the current submission route before building dates around it.

Entebbe (EBB)Dubai (DXB)

A well-served nonstop – Emirates, flydubai and Uganda Airlines all fly it daily. Onward-travel proof gets asked for on the visit visa application, then asked for again at the gate in Entebbe.

Entebbe (EBB)Doha (DOH)

Qatar Airways' nonstop, useful both for a Qatar visit visa itself and as the connecting point most itineraries to Europe or North America actually route through.

Ugandan visa applications that ask for a flight reservation

What gets checked, and by which office, differs by destination. These are the corridors Ugandan applicants most often need an itinerary for.

United Kingdom

Standard Visitor applications are lodged online, with biometrics captured at a centre in Kampala. The decision itself is made outside Uganda, and Home Office guidance says plainly not to book real travel until it arrives.

Schengen Area

Individual member states run their own consulates or route intake through a visa centre in Kampala, but all of them are checking the same thing – that the stated dates, the itinerary and any invitation line up as one coherent trip.

United States

Interviews for B1/B2 happen at the US Embassy in Kampala, the only post in the country conducting them. The officer weighs ties to Uganda and intent to return; a flight given in specifics answers that better than one described in outline.

Canada

The Kampala visa application centre closed to new submissions in June 2026, and Ugandan files are decided by the High Commission in Tanzania rather than a Ugandan post. Check the current filing arrangement before you assume a Kampala appointment is still on offer.

United Arab Emirates

Visit visas usually need an airline, hotel or resident relative to sponsor them, and onward-travel proof is checked twice – once on the application, and again at the gate in Entebbe before boarding.

Qatar

Business and family-visit applications ask for the same kind of evidence as the UAE corridor – a specific, checkable flight rather than a stated intention to travel.

Arrangements at consulates and application centres change without much notice – the Kampala Canada centre closing in 2026 is a recent example. Confirm the current process for your destination before you file.

What gets a Ugandan flight reservation for visa sent back

The document itself is rarely the issue. Almost every setback traces back to the itinerary disagreeing with something else already in the file.

A name that doesn't match the data page

Whatever order your name is entered in on the application form, it has to match the passport's data page exactly – not the version you go by day to day, and not a shortened or reordered form of it. Copy it character for character.

Dates that assume an appointment that's no longer confirmed

With the Canada centre in Kampala having just closed and applicants routed elsewhere, building an itinerary around an assumed appointment date is riskier than usual right now. Confirm the actual date first, then set departure after it.

A trip that doesn't match the rest of the file

The itinerary gets read next to the hotel booking, the invitation letter or the admission letter as one connected account of the same trip. A three-week itinerary against a one-week hotel reservation is the kind of gap an officer catches immediately, with no chance to explain it afterwards.

Leaving off the flight back

Visitor categories exist specifically to weigh whether you're coming back. Leaving the return flight off answers that question in the least helpful way available, regardless of your actual plans.

An edited screenshot standing in for a booking

A doctored image, or a reference that leads nowhere when a centre tries it, reads as an attempt to mislead rather than a weak file – and that finding follows the applicant well past this one submission. Everything here comes from live flight data with a reference that genuinely resolves.

Buying the real fare just to feel covered

Paying for the actual ticket 'as a backup' usually ends in a change fee once an appointment shifts, or the fare being written off entirely on a refusal. The reservation absorbs that risk instead. Book the real ticket only once the visa is actually issued.

Questions about your flight itinerary for visa from Uganda

Questions applicants filing from Kampala and the rest of Uganda ask most before they order.

Do I have to buy the actual flight first?

No – this is a reservation for the application stage, not a paid ticket. The genuine fare gets booked once the visa comes through. Committing to one out of Entebbe before a decision is exactly the risk this avoids.

How much does a flight itinerary cost from Uganda?

About USh 55,500 one-way, USh 70,500 round-trip and USh 92,500 multi-city, whatever the number of legs on the multi-city document. Extra travellers cost about USh 55,500 per adult, USh 37,000 per child aged 2–11 and USh 18,500 per infant. These convert the USD prices of $15, $19 and $25 – the card is charged in dollars, so your bank sets the exact shilling figure on the day.

Can I pay with MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money?

No – there's no mobile money option anywhere in the process, and no paybill or till number exists for it. Payment is by card only. If anyone asks you to send mobile money for this and claims to be us, they aren't – that payment doesn't come back.

Is this a genuine booking, or something made up to look like one?

It's a real reservation on a flight that actually operates. The airline, flight number, aircraft, routing and times all come from live flight data, and the PDF carries a booking reference and PNR that Order Lookup can bring back up later. It isn't a paid ticket – and a reservation is what most missions are actually asking for at this stage.

How fast will I have it?

Inside a minute of paying, any time of day. Generating it the same morning as an appointment at the embassy or a centre in Kampala works fine.

Will a UK, Schengen or US application accept it?

Most missions asking for evidence of your travel plan will take a reservation like this one. Exact requirements still differ by destination and sometimes by officer, so confirm your current checklist rather than assuming.

Which Ugandan airport can I depart from?

Entebbe (EBB) is the one in the search index, and it's where nearly every application filed from Uganda would start from anyway. Building an itinerary from an airport outside Uganda is no obstacle either, if that's genuinely where the trip begins.

What if a centre actually checks the booking reference?

It resolves, because a real reservation sits behind it – that's the whole difference between this and an edited screenshot. What's actually being tested is whether your travel plan is coherent, not whether an airline has already been paid.

Is the Canada visa process in Kampala still running?

The Canada visa application centre in Kampala stopped taking new applications in June 2026, and decisions on Ugandan files are made by the High Commission in Tanzania. Check the current submission arrangement for your file before assuming a Kampala appointment is still available.

How long do the dates on it stay valid?

It shows exactly the flight and dates you picked, and doesn't update on its own. Since appointments can shift, order it close to your submission date with departure set safely after it. A replacement costs the same USh 55,500 if your plans change.

What happens if the visa is refused?

The fee covers producing and sending the document, so it doesn't depend on the outcome – that decision belongs to the mission alone. It caps your exposure at USh 55,500 to USh 92,500, rather than an international fare that's usually non-refundable by the time a refusal arrives.

Get the dummy flight ticket, keep the real fare for later

Search a live flight out of Entebbe, add your travellers, and pay by card. The PDF is ready before the rest of the file is anywhere close – about USh 55,500, with the real ticket to follow once there's a visa to use it for.
