An Indonesian passport travels freely around ASEAN and almost nowhere else. Everywhere else asks you to describe the trip before it will consider letting you take it.
Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea and Saudi Arabia all want the visa settled before you board. Their forms ask the same question in different words: which flights, on which dates, going where.
You are answering it early. A Schengen appointment at a centre in Jakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar or Medan has to be secured before the file is even looked at. The decision then follows the appointment by weeks. An Australian lodgement is online but not quick. A US interview date at the Jakarta embassy or the Surabaya consulate is set well ahead of itself.
So the flights on your form are a plan, not a purchase. Buying them to make the plan look solid is where the money goes wrong. A return to Amsterdam or Sydney is a serious rupiah figure, and the cheapest fares are always the ones that cost most to move.
A reservation does not weaken the file. It is what the posts ask for. UK guidance says not to book travel before a decision, and Schengen consulates want evidence of intended travel rather than a receipt for it. Check the card is not domestic-only
Plenty of debit cards issued here run on the domestic GPN network and cannot be used outside Indonesia at all. What you need is a Visa or Mastercard, credit or debit, with international transactions switched on. Your bank's app will usually tell you which you are holding and turn the setting on if it is off.

Schengen Area

Australia
The nearest major destination that still needs a visa, and subclass 600 volume from here reflects it. The form asks you to set out what you intend to do and when, with the evidence attached to the online lodgement. A reservation answers it and commits you to nothing.
United States
Interviews run at the embassy in Jakarta and the consulate in Surabaya, with dates issued a long way out. The questions are about your reasons to return rather than your routing, but describing the trip in particulars is a better answer than describing it in general.
Saudi Arabia
Umrah is arranged through a licensed organiser, and your flights are submitted as part of that package rather than on their own. The organiser will check the return sector before the ministry ever sees it, and dates outside the visa's validity are the thing they send back.
Japan
Tourist applications ask for a day-by-day schedule alongside the flights, and the two documents are read against one another. Where an e-passport waiver registration applies instead of a visa, the airline still wants to see how you are leaving again.
South Korea and Taiwan
Both want the purpose and the length of stay stated, and both read the itinerary as the thing that turns those into dates. Neither expects a purchased ticket at the application stage.
United Kingdom
The form is completed online with biometrics given at a centre here. Travel evidence goes in with the supporting documents, and the guidance tells applicants outright to wait for the decision before booking anything.
Canada
Both the visitor and the study stream want the purpose of the trip and the shape it has been given. Current processing makes a fare bought at lodgement something you would likely be paying to change well before an answer appeared.

Where an Indonesian flight reservation for visa trips
The reservation is seldom the fault. What causes trouble is the reservation disagreeing with a document already in the folder.
A one-name passport entered wrongly
Many Indonesian passports carry a single name with no family name at all. Airline systems will not take an empty field, so the name is conventionally repeated across both, or the given-name field is filled and the surname carries the same word. Enter it the way the passport reads and keep it identical everywhere in the application — inventing a second name to fill the box is what breaks the match.
Umrah dates outside the visa
The visa permits a defined period and the organiser's package sits inside it. An itinerary that departs early or returns late is caught by the organiser first, and it is the easiest thing in the file to have to redo.
Insurance that does not span the trip
Schengen files are examined for this specifically. Cover has to run the full length of the itinerary. A policy short by a day at either end is enough on its own to have the application returned.
A visitor file with no way home
